1986 Harley Sportster XLH

1986 Harley Sportster XLH

For those who don't know already, the Sportster is one of the best selling models in the Harley Davidson lineup. It has been in production annually since the late 1950's and it is a staple in any Harley showroom. The Sportster is often referred to as the Sporty for short. It is also referred to as an XL since these letter preced the complete Harley model number. This bike has been fairly stable throughout the years in terms of overall design. Simplicity is good and the evolution of the XL has been slow and methodical. In 2007, the Sportster received its biggest improvement in years, a fuel injection system to replace dated carburation. The Sporty has been deemed a great starter bike for someone looking to get into motorcycling on the bottom rung. It is an inexpensive way to get planted on a Harley Davidson motorbike and get out on the open road. Reliability has greatly improved and handling remains above average. Oh yeah, and did I mention, it is a Harley. Check out this particular 86 Sportster XLH and rate it on appearance. Thanks for looking, now get out and ride...

  1. 1980 era Sportsters are awesome starter bikes. They can be purchased on the used market for a fraction of what they once cost. They are not known to be the most efficient or the most reliable but they are still a good pickup if you're looking for a cheap ride. For fun I check eBay for used Sportsters from time to time.
