1992 Harley Sportster

1992 Harley Sportster

For those who don't know already, the Sportster is one of the best selling models in the Harley Davidson lineup. It has been in production annually since the late 1950's and it is a staple in any Harley showroom. The Sportster is often referred to as the Sporty for short. It is also referred to as an XL since these letter preced the complete Harley model number. This bike has been fairly stable throughout the years in terms of overall design. Simplicity is good and the evolution of the XL has been slow and methodical. In 2007, the Sportster received its biggest improvement in years, a fuel injection system to replace dated carburation. The Sporty has been deemed a great starter bike for someone looking to get into motorcycling on the bottom rung. It is an inexpensive way to get planted on a Harley Davidson motorbike and get out on the open road. Reliability has greatly improved and handling remains above average. Oh yeah, and did I mention, it is a Harley. Check out this particular 92 Sportster and rate it on appearance. Thanks for looking, now get out and ride...

  2. As many know I am not a fan of Harley Davidson. Buy the bike that fits your needs and be thankful you are riding a motorcycle. Do not worry about image. Image is over rated and a fabrication by the motorcycle and auto industries. It takes more that the average to be a motorcycle rider. Takes more skill and commitment. Takes a certain mental fortitude to be on a machine that offers virtually no protection for it's owner. As to the two bikes you are considering. I believe the newer 883 comes equipped with the engine rubber mounted. Not true with the 1996 1200. Also the 883 is fuel injected (I believe) but the 1200 gets it's fuel via a carburetor. I sure like the fuel injection feature of my bike.Beyond that ask yourself, what do YOU want out of a motorcycle.
